Childhood and Family
Reverend Akeem was born in Kigali, Rwanda, and grew up Catholic. Akeem’s parents were immigrants from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the former Zaire, who immigrated to Rwanda in the 1950s. Growing up, his family did not attend church until some family members began converting to Protestant Christian beliefs. However, his grandmother was a devoted Catholic who never missed church service and spoke up. Until this point, most of his siblings were Catholics.
Salvation
During the 1994 Rwandan Civil War, many of Akeem's friends and their family members were killed. But God preserved Akeem’s life on three separate occasions when armed people attempted to kill him. Since that time, Akeem never stopped thinking about it and asking himself, "Why did my best friends die, but God kept me alive?" This question rang in his heart every single day. It was why the spiritual battle between God's and Satan's voices took place in his heart for years. The Holy Spirit spoke with him about giving his life to Jesus Christ, but he thought it was not the time yet. "I am still young," he would say to himself. Instead, he discovered God's love and understood God’s plan for his life.
After the war, Akeem returned to the Congo (DRC) and Kenya. On Sunday, August 10, 1997, Akeem made his public confession of accepting and receiving Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior while attending the Redeemed Gospel Church in Mathare in Nairobi, Kenya. A few months later, he was baptized by immersion and filled with the Holy Spirit. Since being saved, the Holy Spirit has taught him how to pray and live a godly life. Also, since the Lord Jesus Christ revealed the secret that lies in prayers, prayer has been a part of his life. Akeem likes to say his wife is even more of a prayer warrior than himself. He thanks God for giving him a loving, caring, and prayerful wife who has been a real blessing in his life and ministry.
Ministry
Akeem has discovered God's will for his life through prayers and fasting. On July 13, 1998, while in a powerful session of prayers and fasting with other fellow believers, God spoke to him for the first time about his calling into ministry. The Lord Jesus Christ told him, "I have chosen and sanctified you. I will use you to reach out to the nations with the Gospel." The Holy Spirit added, "Keep praying and living a holy life." God kept revealing to him the plans that He had for his life. At that time, he was living in Nairobi.
One day, God told him to go back to the DRC. The unrest there caused him to be reluctant, but he ended up obeying God's voice. In December 2001, he took his wife and daughter with him to Congo. When he arrived in Bukavu in the South Kivu province, God led him to the Community of Pentecostal Free Churches in Africa (the 5th CELPA) in Bagira, where he served God as an intercessor, Sunday school teacher, and youth leader.
In May 2003, the Holy Spirit led him to begin a prayer meeting for young people. On June 14, 2003, the Holy Spirit ordered one of God's servants to lay hands on him and appointed him youth pastor. On June 22, 2003, God reaffirmed his calling. These messages from God happened during prayer meetings in the presence of other people. Since those days, he has understood where God was taking him in his life of ministry.
On November 20, 2004, God instructed Akeem to establish a ministry. God's instructions came to him while he was on a prayer retreat on the mountain of Bethel at Itara in Bushumba. Those with him that day witnessed this historic event of his life.
Before he and his co-founders founded this ministry, the Holy Spirit told him that He would take him to a faraway country where he would serve God on another level. In June 2005, God honored His promises. He brought His servant to America. All the dreams and visions in connection to these promises God showed him had been unfolding one after the other until he arrived in America. God still speaks to people when He is pleased to do so. Akeem is one of God's servants who has received that favor from God.
In August 2006, Akeem pursued his bachelor's degree at Boston Baptist College. In June 2011, he enrolled at the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary for a master's degree. After receiving his bachelor's degree in Pastoral Ministries and while pursuing his master's degree, he earnestly sought God's will and guidance for the call of God into ministry for seven days of prayers and fasting. When he finished those days of prayer and fasting, he received a messenger from God who said that God would give him a church to shepherd. And God did.
God has used people in different ways to make His servant the kind of person he is today. He has experienced rejection, betrayal, and true love from people because of God's call. But God has never abandoned him. God has used people and life circumstances to sharpen him and his ministry to grow and gain wisdom. Akeem and his family are so grateful to everyone who has been there for them, especially in difficult times. Only God will reward each of you accordingly, especially those God has used to stand with his servant during the toughest times and moments he underwent. The journey is ongoing, and he still needs people like you to support him in accomplishing the mission that God has assigned him.
Education and Ordination
Akeem holds a master's degree in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s in pastoral ministries from Boston Baptist College. In 2013, he was publicly ordained as a pastor at Heritage Park Baptist Church in Burlington, Massachusetts.
A Humble Servant
Akeem is the founder and senior pastor of the Jesus Center of Good News. He has been in the ministry since 1998. He is an international preacher and teacher of the Word of God. As a humble servant, he has served God on different levels as an intercessor, door-to-door evangelist, choir singer, Sunday school teacher, youth evangelist director, youth pastor, and church elder.
Family
Akeem met Mukamuliza Louise Bujiriri (who goes by Louise) in 1998, and they have been married since July 3, 1999. As a wife, mother, and the First Lady of the Jesus Center of Good News, Louise has a huge burden to carry every day, which requires God's grace. She is a loving and caring wife and mother. She plays a significant role in the ministry as an intercessor, chairperson, singer, and children's teacher. She loves teaching kids and is heartily engaged and active in the ministry. In June 2018, Louise Bujiriri graduated from Bunker Hill Community College in Boston, Massachusetts. Afterward, she went to North Shore Community College to study as an occupational therapy assistant.
Akeem and his wife have enjoyed a happy marriage. God has blessed them with four children—two daughters and two sons—who all love and serve Jesus Christ in ministry.
